POVERTY STRICKEN SHAPED MY LIFE

Without doubt, I have led a busy life and at this age of 80 am still laboring. My passion for work perhaps came from my difficult times of childhood.

Un like most of my contemporaries, my exact date of birth is not certain due to a lot of poverty stricken in Nama-sub county, Mukono district. I recall the death of my mother when she was giving birth at a certain hospital which was government aided due to in ability to buy a laze brand at only 50UGX.

When i reached school going age, my uncle a teacher in almost 5 schools asked for me. But even though, the uncle could not meet the needs of the family because the money he collected monthly could sum up to $70.

Since the uncle was also poor, I started writing using stones in the dust, but before I finished writing the first word, the wind would come and blow it a way. In the subsequent years, I had to do odd jobs in order to supplement my tuition fees.

But even under such conditions I exhibited academic excellence and good behavior which attracted many people willing to help me further my education. After primary school, I was admitted at Lubiri SS where my passion for accountancy gained momentum. I then joined Makerere University for bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.

Now I residue in a home for fortified with a high wall that keeps prying eyes at the bay. Besides, I have served in many governments of Uganda including that of obote who almost wanted to massacred my life because of being so royal to the king (Kabaka) during the 1966 Buganda crisis.

“Though I had a humble background, but I went on to have a remarkable life and career, you too can prove the same or even more”.
