TO EXIST WITHOUT PARENT’S LOVE

Unlike most of the children, I never had parental love and if people did not know my last name, I would never offer to say it. Born to the late Dr.Mark and Ruth Sentambule, I attended primary school due to financial difficulties. Later at the age of 40 I joined secondary.

At times I would spend a week away from school due to lack of fees. After completing A’ level and contemplating joining university, I got married in 1987 and at this time I thought all my dreams of education had been shattered.

All I knew was that I had given up on education and look after my family with 5 boys. Despite the challenges of managing a family, I never gave up on my long time ambitions of joining university.

I started working on weekends and later used my holiday time to fill in for other days. My friends know me as someone who does not get embarrassed for doing odd jobs. Not only acquiring tuition from a job that many people may consider odd, but I have been able to pay for my boys pursuing their BSC in Industrial Psychology and Business Management at Makerere University.

The job was so challenging for me when I had to strike a balance between my books and delivering at work. Now am a Managing Director child development ministry in Kenya.  “Perhaps success does not come on a silver plate given someone’s background; you just need to change your mind set in life amidst struggles”.
